Lim Teck Yang is my given name. People call me Edvyn, so I go by the art name Edvyn Hayashi.
Drawing has been my only spark in this work, the spark that lit up everything else. It wasn't something that just appear, no path is easy. That's why I'm trying my best!
And my goal is.....
3D Fundamentals
Learned 4 principles of 3D of different dimensions and how to see proportion. For each, notes are taken into our journal. Exercises of sketching out ideas and making at least 5 sketch models for each before making these final models.
01
Rectilinear Volumes
Without limit to how we can play with the size of the 3D object that has 6 congruent square faces. We are to merge 3 of these unique shapes which includes a Superficial, a Massive, and an Extensional using several type of joint. With these principles, placements and joints are boundless.
02
Planar Constuction
Using 2D Planers, we contract curves on its surface. Additionally, we made those 2D curves bend in the 3D space as well. With 4-5 unique curves of 2D and 3D, it forms a distinctive structure. Each diverts into different axis, and the dominant holds them all together presenting the main floe of direction of the construction.
03
Line & Space
In a 1D world, only a line appear, take that to for a curve, it will be 2D. Using 1D elements, 5 curves are form from the categories of curves; Slow Curve, Fast Curve, and Directional Curves. With each curve connect one after another, the change of axis will show 3D space.
04
Convexity
To show mass it needs depth. Using clay, 3-5 elements are merged; Sphere, Paraboloid, Ellipsoid, and Ovoid to show its unity. Just like the rest, dominant is step at place to bring the intersections of elements as a whole. With its mass and smooth surface, it brings out the convexity.
